“Stupsat” (Albanian Commedians)
  Everyone needs a good laughter

On Friday, April 20 my friends and I decided to go see e performance by “Stupsat”
a group of comedians from my hometown, Prishtina. This was very different from
the usual plays that I saw recently. First of all more then five-hundred people
came to see them perform.

The reason I say it was different from any other plays is because there was no
plot and everything was in Albanian language. I would classify this kind of
performance more as a concert.
When I came in, there was Meda an Albanian singer from Germany singing live music.
The audience was up in their feet singing and dancing along. After a while the
music stopped and everyone found their seats. Shortly, “Stupsat” came out who did
a short scene probably about 10-15 min long. Again there was music and another
short scene performed by the famous Albanian comedians.
The age of the audience was composed of a wide range. There were families with
children, college students etc. It is hard to find something that everyone can
enjoy. However, this type of entertainment was for most age groups; from middle
school students to adults. I remember as a young teenager when I still was living
in Kosova, we used to watch as a family “Stupsat” their TV shows and their movies.

What was more exciting was meeting the actors in the VIP room together with my
friends. I found out that the actors even in everyday life were funny. They told
us about their experience in the United States and how much they missed home,
which everyone of us could relate. Since I got the chance to meet the actors in
person and sow them perform I decided to write about the comedians/actors.
Their performance was in two parts. The first part was acting while their dialogue
was a previously recorded tape. I noticed the actors had very well practiced
because they moved their lips in a way that perfectly corresponded to the words in
the tape. There were normal conversations and parts of famous old and current
Albanian music. The second performance was also very short and even more funny and
interesting. One of them was giving the news and the other 2 actors were
impersonating according to who the news anchor was presenting. The audience
including me was laughing the whole time. In general they did a great job as
actors and I think they reached their goal; to entertain the audience and make
them laugh.
In the end everyone in the audience were up on their feet clapping and cheering. I
could tell that everyone enjoyed the performance as much as I did. Everyone needs
a good laughter some time or another and in my opinion this was the perfect show
for that.
